08/03/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Zayn is a SS/RHP who will graduate in 2016. In the field, Zayn makes the routine plays and has a clean exchange to throw. He has good arm strength which allows his throws to carry through his target. Zayn can improve defensively by attacking more to field the ball. At the plate, Zayn has good power from the right side. He sets up in a tall stance and turns on the inside pitch well. He has strong hands and makes square, powerful contact with the ball. Zayn can improve as a hitter by using his lower half more throughout his swing. On the mound, Zayn attacks hitters and throws strikes consistently. His fastball ranges from 73-75mph. Zayn can improve as a pitcher by incorporating a long toss program to build up his arm strength. Overall, Zayn is a solid prospect who has the tools and potential to further develop his game.

07/11/2016 - College PREP - Avon (Cleveland), OH Zayn is a big, thick C/SS who will graduate in 2016. At the plate, is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with outstanding power potential. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through a level / aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields, displaying gap to gap pop. Behind the plate, hands / feet work well together through a quick / clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.12 range with accuracy on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools that will play well as he continues to develop and get more reps. At SS, he displays smooth, fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Presenting glove more out front will aid in improving defensive abilities. Zayn has potential with a lot of room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
