10/03/2010 - College PREP - Boise, ID Zayne is a young two-way player as a catcher and on the mound with a solid, athletic looking frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Feet are active working in line, as he gains ground through a clean, transfer / exchange. Pop times show a range of 2.09-2.38 with carry and accuracy on his throws. Receiving skills are above average and will play at the next level. Blocking skills need further development and instruction but he flashes athletic abilities through the process. Offensively, Slotten displays a balanced approach allowing his hands to attack the baseball. He has strength in his swing and utilizes his lower half well through his swing with baseball exploding off his bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 78-83 mph. Off speed pitches show are quality pitches that will get outs. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin. Changeup shows plus feel for with fading action. He throws strikes with all his pitches but needs to work down in the zone more. With 2 years to further develop, Zayne has a lot of potential with the makings of possibly a two-way guy at the next level.
