11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition at Pirate City Ahalt showed several improvements in his game at Pirate City. His defensive grades as well as his 60 time all improved, now running his 60 in 7.66. Defensively at 2B, he is aggressive to come and get the ball, fields the ball out in front and gets rid of it through a clean exchange. Continuing to work out on a lower fielding position will help him to field from the ground up. Offensively, he shows good separation and good balance. He is a contact type hitter and will increase his consistency and power with more extension through contact. Zeb is a very coachable player and has a willingness to learn.

09/29/2012 - Infield Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Zeb is an athletic infielder that has found a home at second base. He does a good job of squaring up the baseball and using his body if needed. Although he tends to field the baseball tall and deep at times, Zeb showed improvement in his fielding position and exchange during the weekend, but the best improvement was his work around the bag, his hands and footwork around the bag showed great improvement. He tended to be a little inconsistent at times, but this was due to the new adjustments, when Zeb became confident in the changes he was a new player. Also if Zeb moves to the left side of the infield he will need to work on his arm strength, with a long toss program. But as a second basemen Zeb shows a good arm, also shows the hard nose style of baseball it will take to play there. Zeb stuck his nose in the baseball all weekend, while wearing a couple ground balls off the chest and recovering well for the out. With this aggressiveness he will do nothing but improve with size and strength.

09/15/2012 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Zeb had a good weekend with us here at the factory; he worked hard and listened very well, allowing him to make good adjustments. Zeb does a good job of utilizing the entire body when he swings which allows him to produce very good bat speed for being a smaller player. He also does a very good job using his top hand to deliver the barrel and extend through the baseball. A couple things that he needs to focus on in the off season are; his grip, as well as his posture. He tends to over grip the bat locking up his wrists and limiting his barrel control, also his posture tends to get tall. When he gets tall in the swing he tends to fall off the swing, which will lead to him rolling over the baseball, resulting in ground balls to the left side, and flares to the right side. To fix his posture he needs to focus on staying athletic not only in the stance, but the whole way through the swing as well.

07/25/2012 - Interactive Video Program - Frederick, MD Zebulon is a solid, 2nd baseman with average size. Defensively, Zebulon has sure hands, active feet, and he makes plays. He has a clean exchange, and throws the accuracy from a loose arm action. Offensively, Zebulon has a square set-up, good balance, and a level swing. He has average bat sipped, and works the middle of the field. Abilities can get better with work on the following.

Defense
1. Field out in front
2. Long toss
Offense
1. Rhythm / timing
2. Lower 1/2

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
