Behind the plate, he demonstrates athletic feel and stays low. He presents the glove well and tracks the baseball. He gains ground on his throws and his exchanges are quick and clean. Arm works at 82 (2.01 pop) and his short arm actions produces backspin. His feet are quick on blocks and recovers quickly. At the plate, he had a great week with 2 hits and 7 stolen bases. Has a high IQ on the bases and is a threat to take the free 90’s. Swing is short and compact, and his path is direct to the baseball. Overall, Ziggy is an aggressive player who has a bright future.

01/28/2024 - National Showcase - San Marcos (San Diego), CA Ziggy is an exceptional 5ft 5/140 C/2B in the 2027 class. He recently worked out for the Factory and impressed scouts with his high level of play. Behind the plate, his strong arm is on display. He registered 80 velo and 2.09 pop time. He has active feet and shows agility. Sits under the baseball and it sticks to his soft hands. Has a quick exchange and gains a loose over-the-top release to make feeds on the bag. At 2B, he shows similar athletic actions. Footwork is solid and he is quick to the ball (6.99 runner). Creates angles and funnels the ball well by staying low to the ground. Arm slot is the same and his throws are accurate. Shows advanced actions on his feeds and turns. At the plate, he shows a strong setup and a balanced load. Timing is smooth and he naturally stays inside his feet while transferring weight. Generates hard contact from a short path and looks to create line drive power. Overall, he plays above grade level and scouts feel he has a very bright future ahead of him.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
